ABOUT

ME

Ψυχολόγος Λευκωσία Κύπρος Μάριος Σιάλος
In Therapy we Work Together to Create Lasting Positive Change

I see therapy as the space to explore our deepest thoughts and feelings, find meaning in our actions and purpose in our lives. To deal with our own darkness and feel safe when we feel not. Therapy is an ideal place which may not be possible to exist in interpersonal relationships. It is more than feeling a connection with another person it transcends the meaning of feeling accepted while knowing at the same time that - i am not going to be judged.

Being a therapist allows me to constantly improve my self and learn while working together with each new client. Despite studying and training in the field of Psychology, the science of the mind and behaviour, for more than 7 years in prestigious Universities I know for a fact that we haven't even begun to scratch the surface of understanding what it means to be human.

Psychotherapeutic Approach

My core training and the main therapeutic approaches I use in my practice are Person-Centered Therapy (Carl Rogers) and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (Aaron T. Beck, Judith S. Beck). However, I favour an integrative approach where I often borrow tools or principles from other approaches (e.g. Psychodynamic Therapy, Existential Therapy, Systemic Therapy etc.) if I assess that they are going to be beneficial for my client.

I firmly believe that therapy is a collaborative process between therapist and client and the true catalyst for therapeutic change is the willingness and openness to work together.

Clinical Interest

My clinical interest and expertise is directed towards Anxiety Disorders (e.g. generalised anxiety disorder, social phobias, specific phobias (e.g., agoraphobia and claustrophobia), panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder), Mood Disorders (e.g. Depression, Bipolar disorder etc.), Eating Disorders, Personality Disorders and Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders.
